Public hearing for CIL plant expansion

VISAKHAPATNAM: A public meeting Seeking people’s support to the Murugappa Group’s Coromandel International Ltd (CIL)’s expanSion plan Will be held at its Sriharipuram plant on Thursday.

The Coromandel International Ltd will be expanding its manufacturing plant at a cost of Rs 225 crore to increase theph-Osphoric acid production from 700 tonnes to 1,000 tonnes per day.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study was conducted by an expert agency named by the Ministry of Environlent and Forests (MOEF) Cholamandalam, MS Risk Services. A CIL representative said the EIA study states that all steps to adhere to emission parameters and discharge standards, as recommended by the authorities from time to time have been taken.

Public Hearing for CIL Plant Expansion

The expansion Will take place in the already existing plant premises and there is no need for land acquisition.

The capacity of the existing effluent treatment plant Would suffice, and there would not be any additional environmental footprint, the company said. The capacity expansion would generate additional jobs for 275 persons, it is claimed.
